My name is Ernesto Fisher and I live in Holland.

My age: 68 years old. Born in Amsterdam, but now I live in the South-West of Holland.

I have a lot of interest in bagpipes. On the picture I play the gajda from Macedonia.

Every year I visit some countries in East-Europe and the Balkan to meet bagpipers and to make video's.

This man is Ferenc Tobak. He lives in U.S.A, but was born in Hungary. He has a lot of interest in the Csango bagpipers in Moldavia (Romania). In 1988 he started a project about those bagpipers.

The bagpiper right on the photo is Mesterke Gergeley. He lived in Fundu Racaciuni. He has past over.

His bagpipe was a so called Sip. A sip has the same construction as the Hungarian duda, but is tuned higher: tuned in C.

The Csango's use the violin and a kind of cello.

They also use a flute, called furulya, and a kind of lute, called cobza.

There are about 200.000 Csango in the valley of river Siret. 60.000 speak Hungarian. The rest speak Romanian.

A lot of them are integrated in the society of Romania. Most Csango are Roman Catholic.

They has their own dances, music and instruments. Here you see a map where they live in Romania:

In Hungary their music and dances are very beloved.

Every year there is festival of Csango in Jaszbereny, neighbourhood of Budapest.

In the past there lived Csango bagpipers, but they passed over.
